Block C at Pine View is twelve individual cabin units built along the lake frontage. By their twenty-third season, every unit showed the same progression: UV grey on south and west faces, surface checks opening along the horizontal log runs, and original stain failing at the butt joints. The resort manager described the look as "tired," which was generous.
The challenge was operational: twelve units, active resort, guests checking in every weekend. We scheduled the work in three-unit rotations to keep nine units available at all times, running Monday through Thursday across five weeks compressed to 14 working days. Media blasting revealed sound, dry wood under the weathered surface. No rot, no structural concerns.
Each log run received a borate treatment, elastomeric filler on the checks, a wood brightener to normalise the grain tone, then two coats of a UV-blocking penetrating stain. The result was consistent across all twelve units. The resort now books Block C as a premium lake-view block.
