TREATMENT

LD-03LD-07

Protected from the outside in.

Stain is the immune system of a log home. The wrong product, or the right product applied over inadequate prep, fails inside two years. We use water-based, breathable systems with UV inhibitors, and we prepare the surface properly first.

TREATMENT PROTOCOL

How we treat it.

STEP 01

Assess & Strip

Adhesion tested, UV degradation mapped, moisture content read. The existing coat comes off before anything new goes on. We cannot guarantee the quality of a finish applied over old stain, so we do not apply one. Assessment determines the method: crushed-glass blast or chemical strip.

STEP 02

Strip

Old stain removed by crushed-glass blasting or mechanical sanding. Blasting opens wood pores for deeper penetration than surface cleaning alone. Chemical strips used where blasting is not practical.

STEP 03

Clean & Brighten

pH-balanced wash applied after stripping. Tannins and weathering residue neutralized. Wood opened to maximum stain acceptance before anything goes on the wall.

STEP 04

Sample On Your Logs

Color tested directly on your logs in natural light before full application. South and west walls get a separate assessment. They receive more UV and may need a different maintenance schedule.

STEP 05

Apply

Two-coat water-based system back-brushed for consistent penetration. Not rolled, not sprayed without back-brushing. Every pore filled. No holidays.

STEP 06

Topcoat & Inspect

Clear protective topcoat applied where required. Full surface walk to catch runs, thin spots, and missed areas before they cure. Written maintenance guide provided at discharge.
