TREATMENT PROTOCOL

How we treat it.

STEP 01

Probe & Assess

Moisture meter, density probe, and visual inspection. We map rot depth, identify the moisture entry point, and determine how far the decay has spread. You get a written finding before we touch the wall.

STEP 02

Excise

Precision removal of compromised wood. We take only what is necessary. No healthy material removed. The surgical boundary is confirmed with a moisture reading.

STEP 03

Dry & Treat

Borate preservative applied to all exposed surfaces and adjacent logs. Kills active fungi, mold, and wood-boring insects. Prevents re-infection before the repair goes in.

STEP 04

Repair or Replace

Minor rot: structural epoxy consolidant restores load capacity without full removal. Severe rot: partial or full log replacement using matched donor logs and original joinery techniques.

STEP 05

Seal Checks

Upward-facing cracks above the repair sealed with backer rod and elastomeric caulk. Water cannot pool. The entry point that caused the rot is closed.

STEP 06

Finish

Water-based, breathable stain and topcoat applied over the repair. Moisture escapes; UV cannot penetrate. The repair disappears into the wall.
